Director's Welcome Letter

Hello & welcome to the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program's web site.

“I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” --Albert Schweitzer

This quote by Albert Schweitzer epitomizes the benefits of RSVP. I have found in my 23 years of serving as director of RSVP that the seniors who have been involved in volunteer service have been among the happiest that I have known. And that is the basic mission of RSVP – to help individuals 55 and older to become involved in the community through meaningful volunteer service.

“Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Through RSVP, there is something for everyone! There are no educational, economic or other qualifications to serve. We believe there is something for everyone and each staff member is dedicated to work to ensure that anyone who wishes to volunteer will be assisted in finding just the right place in the community for them, taking into consideration their location, talents, and desires.

“I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. - Mahatma Gandhi—

In today’s world, there is much anxiety, disquiet, and isolation in our neighborhoods. RSVP affords an opportunity to learn new things, meet new people and get a new lease on life.

Please view the pages of our Web site and let us know how we can help you. We look forward to hearing from you.
